In Faculty of Socio‐Environmental Studies, students study environmental issues from three different perspectives; Business and Economics Management, Law and Administration, and Humanities and Human Life, We aim to improve their information processing abilities and language skills to discover and solve the problems.
What are the facilities for the Faculty like?
The Environment for Learning Environment Eco-Campus "Building A"
Eco-Campus "Building A" is an ideal place for students of the Faculty to learn environmental matters. The building features a variety of eco‐friendly facilities. For example, solar panels deployed on the rooftop utilize solar energy. Garden is also set on the rooftop to improve the effect of heat resistance of rooms. Windows on the northern side of the building are all double‐glazed to improve the air‐conditioning efficiency.

1.ISO 14001
Students learned the "environmental asset accounting book"of "Otome pond"
FIT is the first university in Fukuoka Pref. that obtained ISO 14001, International Standard on Environmental Management System, which brings students a good opportunity to learn its concept and process and to practice in various ways as part of environmental education.
2.Small-group Instruction
Designed to develop individuals' self-reliance and creativity in 4 years, most of the classes have about 15 students through 1st year to 4th year. Classes encourage group discussion and group thinking. In the seminar in the photo below, for example, students themselves propose some themes to discuss.
Active learning by each student develops their own self-reliance and creativity.
3.Information Technology Education
Searching some useful information
More than 4200 terminals of information facilities enable students to improve not only basic computer skills of word-processing and spreadsheet but also information application skill by the presentation with computer in the third year.
4.Language Education
The seminar students are discussing about Biotope with the professor
Practical English education in reading, writing and speaking is designed as a training for international communication skill. In Japanese education, presentations and debates in seminars are practiced actively.
