The academic year begins in April. All classes are held in Japanese and thus a sufficient command of the language is essential.

Applicants are required to:

  1. Possess a nationality other than Japanese
  2. Not have permanent residence in Japan
  3. Have at least one of the following qualifications:
    1. Have completed, or are expected to complete, 12 years of formal education in a nation other than Japan;
    2. Have completed, or are expected to complete, the academic program at an education facility in a nation other than Japan designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, or an accepted equivalent facility;
    3. Have an International Baccalaureate from the International Baccalaureate Organization, a non-profit foundation established under Swiss law;
  4. Take the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) offered by the Japan Students Services Organization (JASSO). For Engineering and Information Engineering applicants
    Japanese as a Foreign Language/Science/ Mathematics
    For Socio-Environmental Studies applicants
    1. Japanese as a Foreign Language/Japan and the World Reference
    2. The Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU)

Application Documents:

Applicants must submit all the following documents during a specified period:

  1. Application for admission
  2. Resume (Personal History)
  3. Letter of financial support

    *Parents will be highly recommended as sponsor(s)

  4. Composition in Japanese by applicants
  5. Graduation certificate by the high school, and other
  6. Official transcript(s) by the high school, and other
  7. Official score of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU)
  8. Mailing labels
  9. Application fee (¥30,000)

    *Application fee is not refundable.
    * To be paid by postal money order or paid by cash directly to FIT.
