Research and Development for Future

The next-generation human interface

Makio Ishihara, Associate Professor

Human interface research

People express their intentions using a mouse and a keyboard to a computer, and then, we can obtain a response via a display. A "human interface" is a means to realize interactions between a human and a computer. Our laboratory focuses on the realization of more natural and intuitive human interfaces.

Computer as a part of human existence

An “augmented reality” means a superposition of computer graphics (CG) on the real three dimensional world. This augmented reality has the potential for changing a way of interactions between users and computers. The purpose of our laboratory research is to make computers be recognized more as a part of human existence taking advantage of the characteristics of human interfaces.
