Transportation to Fukuoka Airport

There are direct flights to Fukuoka from almost all major Asian cities as well as from Australia, Hawaii and New Zealand. From non-Asian cities, we recommend taking a connecting flight to Fukuoka from either Osaka (Kansai), Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo (Narita), Hong Kong, Singapore, or Honolulu Airport. Regular air services to Fukuoka are available not only from all major Japanese cities but also from Korean and Chinese cities. The flights will take approximately the following time. Please note that it is closer to Fukuoka from China and Korea than from some of the eastern Japanese cities.

Transportation to Hakata Station  

The central station for Japan Railway (or ``JR'' for short) in Fukuoka is Hakata Station. The center of the city of Fukuoka is divided into two districts by Naka River. The western Samurai district is called Fukuoka and the eastern Merchant-class district is called Hakata. You can reach Hakata station from all major Japanese cities except those in Ryukyu by JR trains. The main stops on ``Nozomi'' super express train are Tokyo(4h49m), Nagoya(3h10m), Kyoto(2h33m), Shin-Osaka(2h17m), Okayama(1h36m), Hiroshima(1h01m), Kokura(0h17m). We recommend the usage of this train especially from Kyoto, Okayama, and Hiroshima where the closest airports are not too convenient.

Transportation from the airport to the Fukuoka-ken Sougou Shakaikyouiku Center

Take a subway train from the airport to Hakata Station. The subway ride will take about five minutes. Walk over to Hakata JR Station and take a local train at 9th plathform on the Sasaguri Line. Get off at Sasaguri station which is the sixth (fourth by Kaisoku) stop from Hakata. Ask to the any one in English how to
go to the Fukuoka-ken Sougou Shakaikyouiku Center. You will be able to arrive the center within a 15-minute walk from Sasaguri station.
