Conference Overview

This conference was first held in the USA in 1988, and since then has
provided an annual international forum for the exchange of ideas,
techniques, and experience in the application of AI and expert systems
to real-world problems. Over the last few years, the number of countries
submitting papers has gradually increased, with 30 countries being
represented in the 170 submissions this year. Each submission was
sent to three referees, and the best 100 were selected for presentation
as regular papers. These selected papers represent a broad spectrum of
new ideas in the field of applied artificial intelligence and expert
systems, and serve to disseminate information regarding intelligent
methodologies and their implementation as applied in solving various
problems in industry and engineering.
We also have poster sessions with 30 presentations, six invited
lectures, an exhibition "AI and New Media" presented by companies,
and a technical tour to an automobil factory. The opening session
of this conference and the exhibition will be open to visitors as
well as to conference attendees.
