1． 福岡工業大学を選んだ決め手

福岡工業大学には、教育と研究を進めるための予算や設備が安定して整っており、教員の専門性と自主性を尊重する方針に大きな魅力を感じました。助教であっても独立した研究室が与えられ、着任直後から自分の教育・研究を主体的に進められることが大きな後押しになりました。実際、必要な体制がすぐに整えられたことで、自分の考えを形にし、研究テーマの展開や授業改善に速やかに取り組むことができました。

At Fukuoka Institute of Technology, I was deeply impressed by the budget and the well-equipped educational and research facilities , as well as the university’s policy of respecting faculty expertise and autonomy. Even as an assistant professor, I was given an my own laboratory, which enabled me to take the initiative in my teaching and research from the very start. In fact, because the necessary infrastructure was quickly put in place, I was able to turn my ideas into reality and promptly work on expanding my research, and improving my courses.

2． 福岡工業大学の魅力・職場環境

福岡工業大学の魅力は、職員の方々のサポート体制と、教員が自由に教育・研究に取り組める風土にあります。日々の業務のなかで教員の裁量が十分に尊重されていると感じられ、職員の方々も丁寧かつ迅速に対応してくださるため、事務手続きで困ることはほとんどありませんでした。大学全体として挑戦しやすい環境づくりに取り組んでおり、新しい授業方法を試したり、研究プロジェクトを立ち上げたりする際にも、非常に協力的です。

The appeal of Fukuoka Institute of Technology lies in its strong support system provided by the administrative staff, and the culture that allows faculty members to freely pursue research while educating. I feel that faculty autonomy is fully respected, and staff respond promptly and courteously, so administrative procedures are rarely an obstacle. The university as a whole is committed to creating an environment that encourages overcoming challenges, and is highly supportive of implementing innovative teaching methods or starting new research projects.

3． 福岡工業大学の学生のイメージ

本学の学生は、素直で誠実な姿が印象的です。文理を超えた協働やアクティブラーニングにも積極的で、グループワークやプロジェクトには前向きに取り組む学生が多く見られます。礼儀正しく、教員とのコミュニケーションも円滑で、質問や相談がしやすい雰囲気があります。環境面での配慮や地域活動にも関心を持って取り組んでおり、努力を重ねながら成長していく姿勢は、教員としても応援したくなるものです。

What stands out most about our students is their sincerity and openness. They actively engage in collaborative learning across disciplines and embrace active learning approaches, showing a positive attitude toward group work and projects. They are polite, maintain communication with faculty, and FIT has created an atmosphere in which asking questions or seeking advice is accepted and encouraged. Staff also show interest in environmental considerations and community activities, participating with dedication. Their willingness to put effort in and grow is something that truly inspires and motivates us as educators.

福岡工業大学は、研究費や教育関連の予算が安定して確保されており、着任後すぐに教育と研究を前に進められる環境が整っています。教員同士の関係はフラットで、職位や性別にかかわらず意見が尊重される雰囲気があり、新任でも気兼ねなく相談できる職場です。ぜひ本学で一緒に、新しい教育を創り上げていきたいと思います。

Fukuoka Institute of Technology offers a stable budget for research and education, ensuring an environment where faculty can begin their work immediately after appointment. Relationships among faculty members are equal, and there is a culture of respecting opinions regardless of position or gender, making it easy for new faculty members to seek advice without hesitation. I truly hope you will join us in creating innovative approaches to education, here at our university.

1． 福岡工業大学を選んだ決め手

私は理学部出身で、直近は医学部で10年以上の研究教育歴がありました。正直、「工業大学」への入職は大きな不安がありました。しかし工業大学だからこそ、「生命科学系の研究教育を強化することは、学生にとっても大学にとっても新しい価値になる」と思い、入職を決めました。キャンパスや建物が綺麗で、駅からのアクセスの良さも決め手の一つです。今では理学部・医学部・工学部の理系３学部を渡り歩いた経験が、私の最大の武器になっています。

I graduated from the Faculty of Science and, most recently, spent over ten years engaged in research and education at a medical school. To be honest, I felt a great deal of uncertainty about joining an institute of technology. However, I believed that strengthening research and education in the life sciences within an engineering-focused university would create new value for both the students and the institution.This conviction led me to accept the position. The beautiful campus, along with the excellent access from the station, were also deciding factors. Today, I consider my interdisciplinary experience across science, medicine, and engineering,to be my greatest asset.

2． 福岡工業大学の魅力・職場環境

本学の最大の魅力は、教員へのサポートが充実している点です。研究室で受け持つ学生の数に応じて研究費が配分されます。それとは別に学会旅費（教員・学生）や図書費も一部サポートがあります。投稿論文の英文校閲も、外部の専門業者に依頼する費用をサポートしてくれます。科研費申請書の添削サービスも外部企業と法人契約しているので、教員は無料で添削してもらえます。さらに外部資金が獲得できると、金額に応じて個人研究費が追加され、さらに給与にもインセンティブが上乗せされます。このスペースではとうてい書ききれない魅力が本学にはたくさんあります。

The greatest strength of our university lies in the extensive support provided to faculty members. Research funds are allocated based on the number of students assigned to each laboratory. In addition, there is partial support for conference travel expenses, for both faculty and students, and book purchases. The cost of English proofreading for submitted papers is also covered when using external professional services. Furthermore, the university has a corporate agreement with an external company for reviewing grant applications, allowing faculty to receive this service free of charge. When external funding is secured, additional personal research funds are provided according to the amount, and incentives are added to the salary. There are countless other advantages that cannot be fully described in this space.

3． 福岡工業大学の学生のイメージ

本学の学生は素直で明るく、元気です。言い訳をせず、素直に謝れる学生が多く、指導もしやすいです。学生と教員の距離が近く、愛校心も深いと感じます。私の所属する学科では女子学生が多く、5割が女子学生という学年もあります。本学にはアジアからの短期留学生も多く来ます。研究室で留学生を受け入れると、ラボの公用語が英語になります。すると、日本人学生も頑張って英語でコミュニケーションを取るようになります。私の研究室では学生たちが英語で会話して、ゲラゲラ笑い声が聞こえています。

Students at our university are cheerful, sincere, and full of energy. Many of them take responsibility without making excuses and are quick to offer a genuine apology, which makes guidance easy. The relationship between students and faculty is equal, and I feel a strong sense of school pride from them. In my department, there is a high proportion of female students, some disciplines have as up to 50% women. Our university also welcomes many short-term international students from Asia. When we host international students in the lab, English becomes the main language, and the Japanese students make a real effort to communicate in English. In my lab, it’s common to hear students chatting and laughing together in English.

4． 福岡工業大学へ就職（転職）を希望している教員へのメッセージ

「工業大学」と聞くと、機械・電気・電子・化学などの「モノを作る技術」を中心に教育・研究を行う大学というイメージがあるかもしれません。本学はそういった伝統的な分野に加え、情報、デジタル、環境、建築、社会、半導体、生命、食品など「工業」の枠を超えた幅広い学問領域をカバーしています。さらに、国際交流や研究高度化、大学院教育の充実など、教員として成長できる場です。「工業」から「アドバンス・テクノロジー」へ、「ものづくり」から「フューチャー・デザイン」へ。ぜひ一度訪れ、その可能性を感じてください。
